Grown on granite soils in Stellenbosch, the grapes are hand picked and sorted, slowly fermented and then aged in French & American oak for 20 months. Aromas of juicy black cherries, almost kirsch-like, compliment the smoky meatiness surprisingly well. Lovely perfumed fruit flavours are balanced with toasty oak and elegant tannins. If I’d had a few dark chocolate truffles on me at the time I’ve a feeling they would’ve been a pretty tasty match.

Beautifully warming with black pepper, squishy black cherries and a touch of blackcurranty sharpness. Lovely balanced flavours and more oak warmth and sweet spice on the long long finish. I love blends. I can see how this would be great with food (especially something rich and gamey like venison), but I’d much rather polish the lot off on its own.
